Internet resource book helpful to seniors

Recently, I ran across a book that is filled with extremely useful information for a specific group of people. The title of the book is 300 Incredible Things For Seniors On The Internet. Being a senior myself, a frequent user of the internet and, a person who enjoys about learning more efficient ways of gaining information, I quickly embraced this book and would like to pass on information about this book to you.

The “300 Incredible Things” is broken down into ten chapters. For example, there is a chapter entitled Buyer Beware – avoiding scams and hassles by becoming an informed consumer. Another chapter is entitled The Life Cycle – promoting health and coping with illness, disability and mortality. Seniors needing assistance or information about retirement, their investments and finances might find the chapter entitled Finance and Investment – making the most out of your financial resources a helpful source of information useful.

This same little book can be very helpful for individuals, caregivers, needing information on taking care of seniors. For example, in the chapter on The Life Cycle, web sites are listed for those needing information on taking care of individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s or looking for information on nursing homes and assisted living centers. Those looking for specific information on end of life issues will find web sites on funerals, caskets, and cremations. And, there is even a web site designed for those looking helpful advice and information when considering a “scattering” of ashes at sea.

Veterans will find the chapter entitled Knowledge Is Power interesting. Here, one can find web sites on WW II aircraft and pilots, D-day and the Enola Gay. Other sites in this chapter deal with Vietnam War stories, the Korean War and Desert Storm. There is even a site entitled Military Buddy Locator for those trying to get in touch with military buddies.

Nostalgia buffs might enjoy a section entitled WHERE WERE YOU. Here, a web site gives personal accounts of where people were on important such as the day Pearl Harbor was attacked or the day Neil Armstrong made that “one small step for man”.

Finally, the chapter Fun and Leisure includes web sites for old time radio, groucho on the web, gardening and genealogy.

Seniors are logging onto the internet with increasing frequency. With over a billion total web pages, the internet can seem overwhelming.

This clear and concise resource is a good way to assist seniors who are just starting to use the internet. It is also good for seasoned “surfers”.

This incredible little book is authored by Joe West and Ken Leebow. The publisher is 300 Incredible.com, LLC, 600 Village Trace, Bldg. 23, Marietta, Georgia 30067. The ISBN #1-930435-04-5. 1-800-909-6505
